An award-winning hospital inaugurated by Prince Charles in 1970, Airedale General Hospital treats an average of 25,000 in-patient, 26,00 non-elective patients, and 150,000 outpatients annually.
With a staff of 2,900 healthcare professionals, Airedale General provides high-quality, personalized, acute, elective, and specialist care for the people of Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Airedale General became the first healthcare environment in the United Kingdom to incorporate the Revelation SkyCeiling, a next generation virtual skylight featuring 4X the image size of the award-winning Luminous SkyCeiling, which was also part of the project.
The Revelation SkyCeiling features a deeper, softly angled architectural reveal that directs perspective, leading the observer to gently notice the beautiful skyward portal overhead.
As a biophilic illusion of nature the installations elicit an automatic “relaxation response” through dramatic high resolution digital photography, high CRI color temperature of light, and other key compositional elements.
While the A&E children’s play area showcase two 120 X 120cm Revelation SkyCeilings and the waiting area features three, the main reception hallway features four 60 X 60cm Luminous SkyCeilings creating wonderful portals into open skies for families, visitors, and staff alike.
