Childrens Hospital of the Kings Daughters
Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) is the leading children’s hospital in southeastern Virginia and the only free-standing children’s hospital in the state.
The hospital was founded in 1961, inspired by a group of community-spirited women who formed the Norfolk City Union of The King’s Daughters to provide medical care to indigent mothers and their children 65 years earlier, in 1896.
The CHKD hospital incorporated a Luminous SkyCeiling (ellipse) in their oncology care department, along with a series of beautiful porthole windows featuring beautiful sea creatures.
