Hedin Bil Automotive Group
The Hedin Bil Group is one of the largest automobile dealerships in Sweden featuring 23 brands, including American standards like Chrysler, Jeep, and Corvette; European stalwarts like Renault, Citroen, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo; Japanese mainstays like Nissan and Mitsubishi; plus luxury models like Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and Range Rover.
Hedin Bil features 33 attractive facilities around the country ranging from Kristianstad in the south to Uppsala and Stockholm in the east. The group’s headquarters are located in Molndal, Gothenburg. While the facilities feature the latest models in beautifully designed showrooms, much of the backroom office work takes place in completely enclosed interiors.
Research has shown that lacking an organic visual connection to a green or open sky exterior accelerates fatigue and stress, leaving employees without a view to nature that can help restore and recharge their cognitive abilities.
The solution came in the shape of several Luminous SkyCeilings, virtual skylights designed to provide a credible portal to open skies. A combination of light intensity and color temperature, along with finely calibrated printing of high altitude, low humidity skies, as well as patented elevators to recess the image panels away from the rest of the ceiling, create a simulated architectural connection to open skies.
The result is not only a visual, but spatial illusion that occupants no longer experience as an enclosed space. Instead they perceive a visceral connection to open space, one that triggers an automatic “Relaxation Response” that enhances worker productivity, health, and well-being.
