Showa University Hospital - Angiography
Showa University Northern Yokohama Hospital, founded in 2001, is the most recent medical facility to be founded and affiliated with the Showa Medical College. It features 661 patient beds, a digitalized medical recording system, plus a emergency medical center and a palliative care ward.
For its angiography suite, a medical imaging technique that visualizes the interior of blood vessels and other organs, with particular interest in the arteries, veins, and the heart chambers, Showa chose a 2’ X 16’ (0.61m X 4.9m) Luminous SkyCeiling.
Given the wide longitudinal axis of the equipment, the virtual skylight opens up the ceiling along the same orientation, creating a dramatic path of perceived open space over the head and way past the feet of the patient.
