The University of South Alabama Mitchell Cancer Institute provides exceptional patient care through innovative treatment and both clinical and basic research. The Luminous SkyCeiling installed in the TomoTherapy suite is especially effective as an illusion of real sky because the central cruciform section of the large sky image has been removed from the installation design to accommodate equipment in the ceiling plenum space. By removing these central portions of the image the mind's eye tends to fill in the gaps, making one more acutely sense the overarching sky above the ceiling.
