Osaka Medical Center - Maternal Health
The Osaka Medical Center and Research Institute for Maternal and Child Health is a sophisticated complex that consists of a prenatal center, a full service children's hospital, and a research institute, which not only offers diverse programs to help families cope with an ill child, but is also devoted to the investigation of the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in leading prenatal and pediatric diseases.
The Osaka Medical Center sought to incorporate a biophilic illusion of nature to open up their enclosed MRI suite. Sky Factory's designers created a rectangular 8' X 6' Luminous SkyCeiling™, wider across the patient's field of view as they lie down they are greeted with a few beautiful green branches and a deep blue sky.
Using the signature elements of Open Sky Compositions™ the designers are able to enhance biophilic engagement, allowing the color temperature of light, the vibrant detail of the ultra high resolution digital photography and other design elements around the virtual skylight to trigger a relaxation response in the physiology and relax young patients before and after their sessions.
