Saiseikai Kumamoto Hospital
Saiseikai Kumamoto Hospital’s LINAC suite features Electra’s Versa HD radiotherapy system that combines High Definition Dynamic Radiosurgery (HDRS) and conventional radiotherapy in a single platform.
In order to counteract the radiotherapy vault’s classic isolated design, the hospital’s team brought in Sky Factory to create two symmetrical Luminous SkyCeilings on either side of the patient’s field of view when he or she lies down for each session.
The virtual skylights’ width (1.2m) and length (2.4m) flood the patient’s frontal and peripheral vision in such a way that the eye and brain receive both visual and spatial input.
The illusory sky is edge-lit by a calibrated 6500K LED lighting system that endows the image tiles with a crisp luminescence that tricks the patient’s sensory processing organs into ascribing depth to the high resolution Open Sky Composition, leading to an immediate and visceral experience of spatial relief.
