Summa Akron City Hospital
Summa Akron City Hospital was founded in 1892 to provide patients with the highest quality compassionate care. From the first accredited radiology department in the country, as well as one of the first open heart surgeries in the country, Summa Akron City Hospital has achieved national recognition as a healthcare provider. In 2010, Summa Akron City & St. Thomas Hospitals was awarded nursing's highest honor– Magnet recognition–by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Only six percent of hospitals in the United States are recognized as Magnet hospitals.
