Marie Curie Radiotherapy Center
The Marie Curie Radiotherapy Center in Arras, France, is one of the newer facilities of the Radiologie Artois group. The waiting rooms on the first and basement levels, with little natural light, have been outfitted with four large Luminous SkyCeiling backlit sky image murals. Staff are enthusiastic about the beauty of the virtual skylights, and patients are happy because they can admire the beautiful sky while waiting for treatment.
The paired SkyCeilings highlight an image creation ability unique to The Sky Factory — very large continuous sky image compositions. Sky Factory has amassed an impressive library of ultra high-resolution digital images that allows their graphic artists to create continuous sky images spanning great distances. These paired SkyCeilings feature large breaks of plain ceiling, but the images appear to be continuous across this gap, featuring logical continuations of sky, clouds, and vegetation.
