Royal Bournemouth Hospital Cardiac Intervention Unit
Sky Factory Luminous SkyCeilings™ were recently installed in the Cardiac Intervention Unit at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, thanks to a grant which made the design enhancements possible. SkyCeilings are virtual skylights — used in medical settings to reduce stress, anxiety and improve the patient experience.
The project brief was to design ceilings for 3 of the Catheter Labs and the combined receiving/recovery area with a minimal impact on the day to day operations of the department.
Dr. Suneel Talwar (Consultant Interventional Cardiologist) and Norma Cox (Cardiovascular Angiography Superintendent) worked with the Sky Factory to produce the best patient experience from our extensive online Image Library.
The combination of Sky Factory's unique daylight quality lighting (the same lighting used to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)), our patented elevator system, and high resolution images of the natural world create a calming environment for patients undergoing or recovering from the procedure.
Ms. Cox relates, "We are all very pleased with the results of the SkyCeilings, as patients feel more relaxed during procedures. The staff was impressed with Mr. Sinclair's attention to detail and the high quality of the product. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide these unique designs for our patients, since their well-being is our priority."
Royal Bournemouth Hospital would like to thank the generous benefactor who donated the Sky Factory SkyCeilings. The Cardio Intervention Department would also like to acknowledge Mr. Sinclair for his efforts; the exceptional customer service and quality of craftsmanship have made Sky Factory UK the preferred supplier within our Healthcare Departments. The Sky Factory SkyCeilings have made a significant difference in the environment for patients and staff alike in the day to day operations of the Interventional Cardiology Unit.
