Microsoft Mexico
The global architecture and design firm SPACE developed the interior design for Microsoft México's corporate headquarters in México City. The offices are characterized by a diversity of spaces, a lively use of color, and a playful use of translucency in the spatial separators. The offices have a fun and high-tech appeal.
The designers first saw Sky Factory SkyCeilings at Microsoft's design laboratory at the corporate headquarters in Redmond Washington, where one of the workplace strategists suggested using them. Employees in the new offices happily welcome the addition of light and nature's influence into the deeper interior spaces of their office.
There are two videoconferencing areas on each of three floors defined by the use of Steelcase’s “media:scape” furnishings and HD videoconferencing solutions. Each videoconferencing lounge features a 6-foot Circular Luminous SkyCeiling displaying Spring, Summer, or Fall skyscapes, depending on the floor. The SkyCeilings are valuable biophilic design elements (enlivening peoples' innate affinity for nature) in the otherwise highly designed interior. Yet, the sophistication of the SkyCeilings allows them to work beautifully with the interior design.
